Twenty-Two

Twenty-Two (22) was created for Judy’s partner, an artist. It is the story of our journey and the places and things that are important to us. Some of her works have been incorporated within the book to help tell the story.  These books use symbology, not words, to tell a story.  Take an exciting journey as you create your story using colours, materials and found objects to help build a book that is intended to last generations.

In this workshop you will make a similar book, naturally your book will have your own story and style. The main aim of this book is to learn how to put mixed media works, assemblages and shrines into a book of fabrics papers, photos and metal. We will cover:

  • Attaching very dimensional mixed media objects
  • Embossing velvet
  • Bookbinding
  • Creating symbolically
  • Creating books from found objects
  • Attaching dimensional items to a book form
  • Understanding Judy’s unique process of compiling her Visual Anthologies™

This is a technique, not project-driven class. It is not the intent of this class that you make a carbon copy of this piece, but the opportunity to create your own personal story that you will be able to continue to develop for months to follow.
