Where Do I Go From Here?

I was looking for direction when I attended the two Michael DeMeng workshops last summer at Valley Ridge. I had been using metal and mechanical parts and re-purposing them in collage for a number of years when something inside said, where do I go from here? My artist friends would agree that attending the Michael DeMeng workshops were a pivotal point in my work. I came home renewed, with direction, and confidence. I broke away from the “box” frame and started considering the shape of each piece I was working on as a sketch for what was to come. I’m currently working on a series of pieces trying to get together enough work to approach a gallery to have show of my own. I don’t think this would have happened without gaining confidence and “stretching my wings.” I came away from my experience at the workshops with incentive to enter a juried art show in another state, and I’m maintaining a membership in two art groups, ArtWeb and the Women’s Art Registry of MN.
