Pull elements of nature from outdoors and work rocks, sticks, and other assorted festoons of the landscape into your jewelry and mixed media. Learn how to combine this work very simply with Precious Metal Clay in ways that take your designs another step, in what could be considered a more formal, elegant detail. The finished look of fine silver, something that is initially fashioned from a malleable clay, is an art form with enormous appeal, and can be applied to everything from jewelry to book art and beyond.
In this extensive, technique-filled three day workshop, we will take an elemental, beginner’s approach to creating small flat charms as well as Nina’s signature frame-and-mica designs. After shaping, filing, firing, tumbling and polishing the pieces, you will then incorporate them into the next step of the workshop, which involves wire-wrapping, chain and clasp making, etc.
