Monday January 3th
6:30 - 8:00 pm. Meet and Greet Party


We will meet in the Lobby of our hotel, The Inn on Bourbon, at 6:00 and will walk to the Voodoo Spiritual Temple located at 828 North Rampart Street. There will be a ceremony blessing our creative spirit. Priestess Miriam will present each of us with a gris-gris bag and will be performing the ceremony. Priestess Miriam will provide a sampling of New Orleans cuisine.

  • Stop at the BarTonique: 820 North Rampart Street. This bar has quite the reputation for its unique and authentic cocktails, atmosphere and reasonable prices.
  • Hungry? Dinner at Buffa's Bar & Restaurant: 1001 Esplanade Ave (about 5 blocks from Bar Tonique & Voodoo Spiritual Temple and open all night)

Tuesday, January 31st

10:00 am - 1:00 pm City Tour: Please be in the lobby by 9:45 am. Experience the beauty and history of New Orleans, America's most European city. A licensed tour guide will provide a 3 hour tour of the city. Our private tour will take us through the historic French Quarter, Garden District and the lower 9th Ward, an area greatly impacted by Katrina. We will visit the St. Louis Cemetery #3 and the Lafayette Cemetery and hear tales of voodoo and ghosts.

1:30 Lunch at Vacherie* 827 Toulouse Street

3:00 Fifi Mahony's to try on wigs... and look at their cool accessories. 934 Royal Street (there is a $5.00 cap fee for all who try on wigs. It is reimbursed if you purchase a wig.) Hours: 12:00 to 6:00 pm.

For those not interested in wig shopping, there are a number of vintage shops at the end/and around Decatur Street. For those going to Fifi’s, if you have the energy, we can walk to Decatur Street after our wig experience.

  • Dinner at the Royal Oyster for a bowl of boiled peel and eat shrimp... It is delicious! Address: 441 Royal Street.
  • Preservation Hall located at 726 St. Peter Street...Jazz Concert.... Shannon Powell Performing...Doors open at 8:00 pm. 1st performance starts at 8:15 pm, 2nd performance at 9:15. Admission is $15.00. Note: this is open seating and the line can be quite long. Best to get there early and eat dinner after.

Wednesday, February 1st

La Maison Fantome Workshop In the Carmen Room.

Morning session: 10:00 - 12:30 . Lunch* 12:30 - 1:30. Afternoon session: 1:30 - 4:30. The Carmen room will be open and available for you to work until 10:00 pm.

  • Cocktails in the hotel lounge, that is if you are NOT heading over to the Spotted Cat for free Swing Dance Lessons
  • Walk to the Marigny neighborhood (we might need to take a cab... close timing)
  • Spotted Cat. 623 Frenchmen Street -- Free Swing Dance Lesson from 5:00 - 6:00.
  • Dinner at a number of restaurants there. Suggest the Praline Connection Restaurant. 542 Frenchmen Street
  • Jazz at the Spotted Cat: From 6:00 - 10:00 pm The Orleans 6 . From 10:00pm - 2:00am The St. Louis Slim & The French St Jug Band
  • OR.......
  • Once a month, The Inn on Bourbon hosts an opera in the hotel lounge. Their February opera performance will take place from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. It is free and open to the public. It has been suggested to arrive 1/2 to 1 hour early.

Thursday, February 2nd

La Maison Fantome Workshop In the Carmen Room.

Morning session: 10:00 - 12:30. Lunch* 12:30 - 1:30. Afternoon session: 1:30 - 4:30. The Carmen room will be open and available for you to work in until 10:00 pm

  • 6:30 pm. Meet in the hotel lounge
  • Dinner at Napoleons' 500 Chartres Street
  • Take the Ferry (free) to Algiers and go to the Old Point Bar for good local music. 545 Patterson Drive, Algiers Playing: Big Al & The Heavy Weights. (note: the Old Point Bar does not have a kitchen. You can order pre-made packaged sandwiches. I've had them...they aren't bad in a pinch.) The Ferry stops at midnight.

Friday, February 3rd

Morning is free.

12:30....Lunch at Muriel's* 801 Chartres Street. Reservations are under “Michael deMeng.”

2:00 - 3:30 Ceremony in the Seance Lounge at Muriel's. Manbo Sallie Ann and her accompaniments will be doing a 1-1/2 hour ceremony for Erzulie Freda Dahomey. She is the Voodoo Spirit who rules over love and beauty. She is the quality that allows us to dream of perfection. She is a mulatto beauty, who walks in an atmosphere of elegance and luxury. She corresponds to Mater Dolorosa and though she arrives in a ceremony (through possession trance) as a coquettish flirt, she often ends her possessions in tears because the world just doesn't live up to her ideal image. We are all welcome and encouraged to participate in this ceremony as much as you would like to and are comfortable with.

3:45 - 4:30 Stop at Cafe Du Monde for beignets and coffee* 800 Decatur Street

7:00 - 9:00 Ghost tour in the evening. Our guide, Morgan, will meet us at our hotel.

9:15 Dinner at Cafe Amelia 912 Royal Street

Saturday, February 4th

Final Day of La Maison Fantome Workshop In the Carmen Room

Morning session: 10:00 - 12:30. Lunch* 12:30 - 1:30. Afternoon session: 1:30 - 4:30.

  • Attend the Krewe du Vieux Parade. The parade starts at 6:30 pm.
  • Dinner at Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar 739 Iberville Street
  • Bar hopping on Bourbon Street, fortune telling, palm reading ... it's your last night to do whatever your hankering for.>
