Spheres, Cones, and Cubes Oh My!
Instructor: Stacey Webber
Date: Fri Apr 16, 2010 - Sun Apr 18, 2010
In this three day workshop you will be taking on the challenge of making 1”-3” hollow constructions out of 18 gauge copper sheet. You will choose to make a sphere, cone, or cube that you will deck or make two sides which fit into each other. You will conclude by finishing the surface and presto!-you have a beautiful, delicate container. We will be practicing advanced soldering methods, scoring and bending sheet metal, dapping, forming, sanding and finishing.

Wooden Book with Centipede Binding
Instructor: Daniel Essig
Date: Fri Jun 4, 2010 - Sun Jun 6, 2010
The Greek binding is an ornate historical binding dating from the 7th century. This stitch has many similarities to the Ethiopian Style binding, but has a strikingly different effect. We will maximize this difference by sewing with 2 different colors of thread. The elegant sewing structure, combined with wooden covers, opens a wide range of possibilities for both the beginner and the advanced bookbinder. Using simple hand tools, you will drill, shape, and smooth your book covers.

Hunter Gatherer Maker - The Art of Found Object Assemblage
Instructor: Jane Wynn
Date: Fri Jul 9, 2010 - Sun Jul 11, 2010
In this workshop, you will explore the fascinating world of assemblage art using found objects and create a stunning sculptural piece that creates an amazing dynamic personal narrative. Begin with the difficult part of planning and problem solving your design, then learn to construct an environment out of wood using power tools. Join elements together with a variety of connecting skills from soldering to wire wrapping, hammering, nailing and, of course, using a variety of different adhesives.

The Mosaic Voyage
Instructor: Laurie Mika
Date: Fri Sep 17, 2010 - Sun Sep 19, 2010
Get ready to set sail on a mosaic voyage like no other. In this intensive three-day workshop, you will transform a plain metal book case into a beautiful handmade mosaic travel compendium. Students will be guided through a myriad of mixed media techniques using polymer clay to create highly embellished tiles. We will use paint, mica powders, gold leaf, beads, metal findings and jewels to enhance the polymer clay tiles.

Handbook of Elements
Instructor: Stephanie Lee
Date: Sat Oct 2, 2010 - Sun Oct 3, 2010
The earth offers tactile and durable materials for use in artistic expression. Metal and gypsum, both earth elements, are combined in this stout little book comprised of solder-flooded metal covers and plaster pages. In this project-focused workshop, students will learn how to transform and build up sheet metal, adding vintage and found elements to the cover of the book using basic metal-smithing techniques and materials.

BIGLinks
Instructor: Thomas Mann
Date: Fri Oct 15, 2010 - Sun Oct 17, 2010
Think BIG! This NEW three day workshop will introduce participants to sculptural perspective on linkages for jewelry. A variety of materials and techniques will be explored in the creation of BIG Link bracelets, neckpieces and belts. We’ll employ the fabrication techniques of die forming, forging, chasing, hot connections (soldering) and cold connections.
