The Bone Folders’ Guild was
founded in February 2001 by a group of 11 artists who desired to meet
like-minded book artists to learn, support, and encourage each other
artistically. Originating in Madison, Wisconsin, the Bone Folders’ Guild
is group of people who share the love of book as art.
We share a passion for creating books as a form of
artistic expression.
The Bone Folders' Guild meets on the 2nd Thursday of
each month in the Community Room at the
Willy Street Co-op. We share discovered resources,
spend time “showing and telling”, collectively brainstorm to challenge each artist to create a book that is
theme-specific, and to work on collaborative
projects. Since its inception, the Bone
Folders’ Guild membership has grown to over 20 active
and interested members. |

A bone folder is a tool
used to fold, crease, and score paper. For book and
paper artists alike, a bone folder may be considered
their right hand. Typically a bone folder is made from
the leg bone of a cow, deer, or elk. Synthetic bone
folders are available, made from plastic and Teflon.
Take a look at these beauties….
